Texas Tech current News
FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - Arkansas was able to waltz into Lubbock last season and run over Texas Tech. This time around it was the Red Raiders who went on the road and made a statement.
Texas Tech racked up nearly 500 yards of total offense and held Arkansas to just three second half points as the Razorbacks fell 35-24 inside Razorback Stadium.
The Red Raiders marched 77 yards in just more than two and half minutes on their opening possession of the game and never trailed from that point.
Arkansas and Texas Tech traded blows for the rest of the first half, ending tied at 21-21 after Brandon Allen hit Drew Morgan for a 24-yard touchdown pass.
The second half was all about the visiting team, though.
"Unfortunately we lost to a good football team, " Bielema said. "We're going to get better. We're going to get better this week and A&M is our next opportunity."
Texas Tech scored on their opening possession of the second half, capped by a Patrick Mahomes two yard touchdown run, to take the lead for good.
Red Raiders coach Kliff Kingsbury was complimentary of Arkansas leading up to the game but after his team's win, he let loose on Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema.
"(Bielema) stood up and said if you don't throw to the fullback, we'll kick your ass, and if you throw it 70 times a game, we'll kick your ass'' Kingsbury said. "(Bielema) just got his ass kicked twice in a row and probably next week by (Texas) A&M as well."
Bielema's comments were made at a summer convention with Texas high school football coaches in attendance.
